Abilene Area Pecan Show
Do you have pecan trees in your yard or on your land? Or do you love baking with pecans? Then the Abilene Area Pecan Show is for YOU and entering is FREE!
Residents from Taylor, Callahan, Fisher, Jones, Nolan, and Shackelford Counties are invited to enter their best pecans or pecan baked goods.
Two ways to participate:
Pecan Nut Division – Submit 42 nuts of the same variety (don’t worry if you’re not sure of the exact name—just make sure they’re all alike!). Nut entries will be accepted starting November 3rd through November 18th. So go grab those pecans before the squirrels get them all!
Baking Division – Share your favorite pecan recipe and a sample of your creation! (store bought pecans are okay) Baking entries will be accepted on November 19th 8am until 5pm at the Taylor County Extension office or your local county office from the counties listed above. See image below for more information on the categories open to enter.
Prizes – There is a plaque for Best of Show for the Nut Show and the Baking Show. A rosette for Reserve Champion. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. All 1st place nut entries advance to the regional competition.
