The Big Country Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists is now accepting applications for this year's Master Naturalist Volunteer Training class. Applications are due by August 1st by 5pm, The application can be found at: https://txmn.org/bc/2024-training/ Applications may be e-mailed back, mailed in or brought to our office in person. Join us for our August hike. We are moving to the park side this month to help keep our hikers a littler cooler in our August heat. Check with the park office on meeting location. Hike will start at 9am and will end before noon. Be sure to bring water. Dog are welcome if on a 6' leash. Be sure to bring them water, as well. Park entry is $5 per person unless you have a park pass.
Public Welcome Please join us for this month’s Star Party at Abilene State Park. Meet us across from the swimming pool in the open area (soccer field). Please bring red lights if you have them. We ask you dim headlights when entering swimming pool area so people observing the stars don’t lose their night vision. Join the Big Country Master Gardeners the 1st Tuesday of the month for our programs given at the Abilene Public Library - South Branch. The South Branch is located inside the Mall of Abilene between Dillard's and JCPenney. The program starts at 6pm and runs for roughly 45 minutes to an hour. This month's topic is: All About Succulents. This event is free and no registration is required.

In-Person Private Applicator Training is held the 2nd Monday of each month at the Taylor County Extension office. Cost: $60 - cost incudes training materials required.
