Join us for our monthly Saturday Seminars held the last Saturday of each month February through August 2023. Our August program is Garden Art to Fit All Budgets. Doors open at 8:30 and the program starts at 9 and ends at noon.
Join some of our Texas Master Naturalists on the first Saturday of each month for a morning hike out at Abilene State Park. The walk starts at 9 and usually ends around 11:30am but at times we do go longer depending on weather and how the hike is going. You are welcome to end your hike whenever you see fit. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash. Be sure to dress for the ever-changing Texas weather and don't forget your water!

Please join us for this month’s Star Party at Abilene State Park. Meet us across from the swimming pool in the open area (soccer field). Please bring red lights if you have them. We ask you dim headlights when entering swimming pool area so people observing the stars don’t lose their night vision. Join us as we begin our monthly hikes out at the newly renovated Cedar Creek Waterway trail. We will be alternating between evening and morning hikes. This month will be our EVENING hike starting at 6:30 pm. Come take a leisurely hike with one of our very own Master Naturalists. We will be at the Cedar Creek Waterway trail located at 158 S 11th (right across the street from Jackson Brothers) at 6:30pm. Just look for the big rock entrance sign shown in our picture. Free Wokshop: Come prepared for indoor classroom & outdoor field work; note-taking, close-toed shoes, protective clothing etc. Limited to 20 participants, registration required. (SORRY, THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL) Learn the basics of plant identification and how to teach this to others Begin learning the master plant list that many 4-H and FFA contests use Opportunity to give feedback on new curriculum Have fun in a half day workshop with other professionals Drinks, snacks and lunch provided
Join us every 1st Saturday of the month out at Lake Abilene for a 5-mile hike guided by some of the Big Country Master Naturalist volunteers. The hike will start at 9am and usually finishes around noon. Be sure to bring water and to dress for the ever-changing weather. Dogs are allowed if on a leash. Don't forget to bring your 4-legged family member some water, too!
