Abilene Area Pecan Show Nov. 29th

The Abilene Area Pecan Show will be held on Nov. 29th Pecan nut entries will be accepted starting at Nov. 20.  Forty-two nuts of same variety in a resealable plastic bag, is requirement for entry.  Baking division of show, entries will be accepted Tuesday Nov. 28th 8-5.  Recipe must be included with entry.  An education seminar will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 and all entries awards will be available for pickup 3-5 pm.  Entries not picked up become property of Taylor County Extension Office.

Public Hike Lake Abilene with Big Country Master Naturalists

Lake Abilene

Join us every 1st Saturday of the month out at Lake Abilene for a 5-mile hike guided by some of the Big Country Master Naturalist volunteers. The hike will start at 9am and usually finishes around noon. Be sure to bring water and to dress for the ever-changing weather. Dogs are allowed if on a leash. Don't forget to bring your 4-legged family member some water, too!

Monthly Lake Hike – Lake Abilene

Join us the first Saturday of every month for our monthly public hike. Join some of our Big Country Master Naturalist as we lead a hike through the trails at Lake Abilene.  Be sure to check in at the park office then meet us a mile up the road at the Lake Abilene parking lot at 9am. We take a casual hike for roughly 3 hours covered about 5 miles. The hike is an in an out and you can turn around at any time.

Join us this Saturday, January 13th starting at 6th Abilene State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife for this month's STAR PARTY. We will update our Facebook page by 4 pm if there are any changes to the event. If no update, the event is on. Be sure to dress for the cooler night weather. Don't forget to bring your red lights. If you don't have a red light flashlight you can easily convert a flashlight by covering it with red cellophane or even a red balloon.
